Russian wheat exports via Krasnodar Region ports rise 65% year-on-year

Exports of Russian soft wheat via ports in the Krasnodar Region have increased by 65% year-on-year since the start of 2026, totalling almost 10.7 million tonnes compared with 6.5 million tonnes for the same period last year. The figures were provided by the Novorossiysk branch of the Federal Centre for Safety and Quality Assessment of Agricultural Products whose specialists carried out laboratory tests on grain intended for export.

The geographical reach of exports has expanded to 33 countries. In addition to growth in shipments to traditional markets, Russia has begun supplying wheat more actively to markets in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Middle East and North Africa remain the most important markets. Egypt is the leading importer, having received over 3.9 million tonnes of grain over the past four months, followed by Turkey (over 1.05 million tonnes) and Saudi Arabia (514,000 tonnes). Shipments are also increasing to Israel, the UAE, Lebanon, Iraq, and Qatar.

Exports to Africa have recorded significant growth. Exports to Sudan increased almost fourfold, exceeding 1 million tonnes, while exports to Kenya rose more than tenfold, reaching 630.8 thousand tonnes. Upward trends were also recorded in Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Senegal, and Ghana.

In 2026, eight new markets were added to the list of importing countries. Shipments were made for the first time to Algeria, South Africa, Djibouti, Indonesia, Senegal, Brazil, Tunisia, and Malawi.
