The founder of "Magnit" chain and owner of FC "Krasnodar" Sergey Galitsky joined the rating of entrepreneurs who established their businesses from "scratch" and changed the life of the country.
The list was prepared by Forbes. It included 15 entrepreneurs who established their business "from scratch" and changed the life of the country. As noted by the publication, the participants of the rating are businessmen breaking stereotypes and altering the image of Russia.
Sergey Galitsky ranked second in the list. In 1995, he founded "Tander" company, out of which five years later "Magnit" retailer sprang up. In 2011, "Magnit" with chain of 250 stores became the leader of the Russian market in terms of the number of outlets.
"Galitsky, saving on everything, counted on the province and built stores within easy reach in small towns and urban-type villages. The route appeared to be such a success that in 2011 "Magnit" outstripped his main competitor – X5 Retail Group – in terms of capitalization", - noted the publication.
In February 2018, Galitsky sold 29.1% of "Magnit" shares to VTB bank for 138 billion rubles (2.44 billion dollars) and withdrew from all offices in the company, having transferred the major portion of his equity to VTB bank.
The money raised the entrepreneur contributed to a special fund and is willing to channel them to social charity projects.
In 2017, Galitsky opened a park built around the stadium of FC "Krasnodar" in the capital of Kuban.
